Beyond the Boundary Goes Above and Beyond

Perhaps one of my favorite animation studios is Kyoto Animation. They are an animation company and a publishing company for light novels that later turn into anime series. I find this pretty interesting since usually anime are based off of manga (Japanese comic books) first. They also have a pretty unique and recognizable art style as seen in K-On!, Hyouka, and Free!. And one of my favorite animated series they've done is Kyoukai no Kanata.

Also known as Beyond the Boundary (English translation), it's based on Nagomu Torii's light novel that got an honorable mention in the second Kyoto Animation Awards. After a 12 episode long series was released along with Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, it was announced a few months ago that Beyond the Boundary would receive its own animated film.

The film is said to be a film adaptation of the animated TV series and it's release date in 2015. Kyoto Animation is currently airing Amagi Brilliant Park on TV and with the 2015 animated film on the rise, it hasn't announced any other TV series in the making, compared to other animation studios.

Beyond the Boundary also got its popularity in the U.S from Tumblr and online social media sites, but it didn't get nearly as popular as Free! or any of its other series. I find this a real shame because the story arch is well plot out, characters are fully developed and engaging throughout the story, and it's a real tear jerker. Perhaps that's why KyoAni decided to make the film to increase popularity and viewers for both the film and the television series.

Whatever the case might be, I am definitely looking forward to seeing this film!
